Senior Banquet

Yesterday we honored the graduates of our congregation with a banquet.  It was my job to decorate the tables and I used books as my theme.  I used pages from old books for table runners and library cards for place cards.

We Have Five New Babies

We are the proud owners of 5 little chicks.  The cats were very curious but sweet with the babies.  They are all different breeds.  We have a Welsummer, a Golden Laced Wyandotte and Silver Laced Wyandotte, a Salmon Favorelle, and a Silver Gray Dorking.  The chicken coop arrived Fri and Todd put it together in just a couple of hours.  The chicks won't get to live in it for a few weeks because they need to grow up a little first.  But they are soooo cute.  We've enjoyed watching them today and the "pecking order" is already going on.

Winter Quilt

I always thought I would eventually gravitate to making quilts.  I love playing with color and pattern.  At the library, I found a quilt magazine with an unusual quilt on the front.  I scanned over the article and decided it was worth the 10 cents the magazine cost.  I have many, MANY fabric scraps and wanted to use them in a meaningful way.  So I got busy cutting out blocks.  I worked on cutting them out over a weekend and started sewing them together.  I had all the blocks completed and all sewn together by the end of the next week.  Then I started quilting.  I hand quilted the center and machine stitched around the edge.  It was my first attempt at machine quilting and MAN it was fun!  This quilt measures 86"x86".

Current Projects

I feel like a kid again sometimes. For Christmas, Aubry received this adorable little cat doll. Her name is Biscuit. She came with no clothes so I had to make a few things quickly. This little gown is one of my creations. But then she needed somewhere to sleep so I fixed up this shoe box and I surprised myself. he he Isn't it cute?! Aubry was so excited when I got it all completed.

Todd and I are also in the process of making a new bed. These old doors came from an old house that was torn down. They were too gorgeous to let the dump get them so we repurposed them. Todd is working on the bed frame as I type and I'll post more pictures of the completed project when it's all done.

Aubry's Doll House a Year Later

We have enjoyed dressing up Aubry's doll house this year. She waited very patiently for 3 months for her dad and me to get it put together. So now it's been a year since this arrived under the Christmas tree and this is the progress so far.

Autumn 2011

Autumn is definitely my favorite time of year. The cooler temps, rusty foliage, and sweaters are what I long for after those hot summer months.

These two kids of mine are certainly growing up. I see many changes in their looks from this time last year. I'm thankful for photos so we can remember....

Williamsburg Adventure

We recently took a trip to Washington DC and Williamsburg. When I was tell Aubry about Williamsburg and what it was like she asked if she could dress up. ( she's always liked dressing up ) So here is a shot of her in her coif hat. She received many compliment and lots of attention during our walk around.

Easter Bunny

I saw a bunny simular to this at a friend's house so Aubry and I made our own version. I used embossed felt. I made Aubry (not shown) a white one and then I made a dark brown one (chocolate bunny HA) for one of Aubry's friends.

Little Stinkers

Todd was out taking care of our chickens when along came a momma skunk and her 6 babies!  Notice the tails sticking up in the top photo.
